1 John 2:15-17
Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.Â
For all that is in the worldâthe lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of lifeâis not of the Father but is of the world.Â
And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of GOD abides forever.
At first glance, it may seem that people who love too much are overflowing with the greatest commandment. That is not how GOD sees it. People who love too much love the ways, thinking and attitude of this world, which is the anti-GOD world. Look at the world now. Scroll down Twitter, TikTok and YouTube. You will see the anti-GOD thinking through the film of superficial concordance by amount of likes and views. Those feeds are filled with judgement, sexual immorality, unforgiveness, and the love of money. Every lust states in verse 16 is over-represented in popular and recommended social media.
Love for this world is incompatible with the love of the Father. Christians have to deal with the magnetic pull of the world for as long as we live. Day by day. Jesus intended for us to be in the world, but not of the world.  Matthew 7:13-14 tells us clearly to âenter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.â Jesus didnât say that the popular gate is the right one. He clearly tells us the opposite.
Ask GOD to help you love him more, even though everyday, you are in this world. Â
Glory be to GOD!
